I have Medicaid, why do I have to pay?
Occasionally, there will be a co-pay with your Medicaid coverage for prescriptions. The co-pay is set by your Medicaid Coverage, the pharmacy does not determine your co-pay. Your local pharmacy may be able to waive your co-pay if you cannot afford to pay.
BUT, if you decide to pay, it will really show how much you care and appreciate your pharmacy! I can't tell you how happy some pharmacy staff members can get when Medicaid Patients pay their co-pay because it means less additional work for the pharmacy to waive your co-pay and it also means more money for the pharmacy so that they can continue to function. Every little bit helps in the long run. Medicaid Co-Pays generally range from $0.50 to $6.00 per prescription. If you cannot truly afford it, let your pharmacy know that and they may be able to waive your co-pay depending on store or company policy. The pharmacy really does feel appreciated when you pay your co-pay.
